Ogle
County
uses a form of county government called the County
Administrator Form by employing a county administrator
to centralize and strengthen the county’s administrative
responsibilities and expertise.
While this form of government has become the
preferred form in many
Illinois
counties over the past 25 years, it is relatively new
considering the structure of county governments has not
changed much in the last 150 years.
According to
Northern
Illinois
University’s
Center for Governmental Studies, “counties with
administrators have taken the lead in bringing county
governments into a better position to cope with the
complexity of the 21st century.”
Meggon McKinley was appointed as Ogle County
Administrator by the
County
Board
in the spring of 2009 and is responsible for overseeing
the day to day operations of the County government under
the jurisdiction and policy control of the Board. In
Ogle
County,
this includes Animal Control, Assessments, Health
Department, Highway Department, Probation, Solid Waste
Management, and Zoning.
As Administrator, Meggon advises, assists, and
acts as the Board’s agent in all county matters governed
by the
County
Board.
She works cooperatively with departments not
under the Board’s jurisdiction to promote a high level
of interdepartmental cooperation and consistency of
administrative procedures and operations.
Meggon comes to this position with 19 years management
experience in the corporate sector and a Bachelors
Degree in Economics from the
University
of
Illinois.
Having spent 12 years in large corporate banking
(9 years downtown
Chicago
at The Northern Trust Company) and 7 years in corporate
consulting, she is a versatile leader excelling in
strategic planning, financial, client, and human
resource management.
Meggon has a unique passion for facilitating
positive outcomes between seemingly disparate groups.
She has a long track record of executive
leadership success through communicating appropriate
goals and expectations, aligning employees, vendors, and
finances with strategic objectives, and driving
operational efficiencies for desired outcomes on time
and on budget.
In
addition to supporting the Board and departments, Meggon
welcomes public inquiries and discussions regarding
topics important to
Ogle
County
residents.
While the Ogle County Courthouse is under renovation,
her office is temporarily located in the former
Watt
Building
down
town
Mt.
Morris.
Her phone number is 815-732-1111.
